About the Job

This position involves conducting practicals, preparing teaching materials, managing laboratory supplies and equipment, and ensuring the overall administration of the department’s laboratories.

Responsibilities

Conducting practicals to undergraduate and post graduate students.
Preparing the list of chemicals, equipment and other consumables to be procured in the laboratory.
Keeping inventory of equipment, chemicals and other consumables is caused and applicable standards, where applicable.
Overseeing provision of laboratory services as well as allocation of duties to junior laboratory staff.
Planning, supervising, evaluating and coordinating of laboratory work in the area of specialization.
Preparing budget for laboratory requirements.
Ensuring laboratory equipment are secure and accessible.
Supervising and training staff engaged in laboratory work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized institution with a Technical Certificate; OR Higher Diploma in a relevant area or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution with a Technical Certificate.
Served in the grade of Technologist II Grade 9 for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
