About the Job
Reporting to the Head of Sustainable Finance, the holder will be responsible for growing the green book for corporate banking, working with internal and external stakeholders to develop compelling green finance products as well as mobilizing green funding to support the sustainable finance initiatives.
Responsibilities
Implement the bank’s corporate banking green finance strategy and work with other stakeholders in building a centre of excellence for corporate banking green finance.
Work with Corporate banking sectors leads and relationship managers to grow the green lending book for corporate banking.
Deliver an innovative sustainable finance product and service suited to meet the needs of corporate banking customers and achieve business objectives.
Identify new fundraising opportunities for climate funding, trends in climate finance and emerging donor interests within the region, and work with other internal stakeholders in the conversion of these opportunities into value for the Bank’s corporate customers.
Facilitate the commercialization of sustainable finance products in liaison with product teams, business units, cross functional teams, and subsidiaries.
Serve as first line of defense in the management of climate related risks across the green lending portfolio within the legal, regulatory and Group compliance frameworks.
Work closely with Group corporate affairs team to build internal / external stakeholder strategy promoting green lending while ensuring consistent messaging to internal and wider market.
Develop a deep understanding of sustainable finance ecosystems, mapping out opportunities for green finance and working with commercial teams on opportunity maximization.
Work with corporate regulatory affairs in conducting ESG analysis for corporate clients as well as ESDD for corporate facilities in line with Group policy and best practices.
Align the corporate banking sustainable finance portfolio to best practice requirements including to the requirements of the various partnering development finance institutions.
Capacity development of corporate banking relationship managers, credit teams and other internal stakeholders involved in the design and delivery of sustainable finance solutions to corporate customers.
Work with the Risk, Credit and commercial teams in monitoring the performance of the green lending portfolio to keep it within the approved risk appetite for the Bank, including recovery of any nonperforming green assets.
Track the performance of the green lending portfolio against establish performance metrics and take appropriate interventions in collaboration of corporate relationship managers and sector heads.
Prepare and provide pertinent performance reports of the corporate banking green finance portfolio to senior management to guide business strategic actions.
Requirements
Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
A minimum of six years’ experience in Corporate Banking Relationship Management.
At least five years’ experience in Stakeholder Management.
A minimum of three years’ experience in Sustainable Lending/Green Finance for Corporates and Climate Fundraising.
At least two years’ experience in Climate Project Management, as well as ESG and Sustainability Reporting.
