About the Job

Kenyatta University is seeking a Firefighting Supervisor to manage and oversee fire and safety activities.

Responsibilities

Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose relevant correspondences.
Supervise the fire and safety activities.
Develop and present training programs designed to instruct agency personnel in accident prevention and occupational safety techniques.
Originate and direct fire drills and other simulated emergencies.
Operating firefighting application and communication equipment.
Perform specialized functions in preparing and responding to fire and emergency calls in order to prevent and/or minimize loss of life, property or injury as a result of fire.
Respond to emergency calls with utmost speed and efficiency.
Safeguard their own and other people’s safety at all times.
Assist in rescue operation.
Inspect and maintain appliances and equipment and ensuring they are in good condition in accordance with county fire fighting policies and procedures.
Any other related work as may be assigned.

Requirements

A holder of KCSE C – Minus or equivalent.
Be a holder of a firefighting/rescue service certificate or relevant certificate from an institution recognized in Kenya.
Certification as a Fire Officer or Fire Instructor is preferred.
Have a First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution.
Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in fire-fighting and operation of fire-fighting equipment of which, two (2) years are in a supervisory position.
Former members of the disciplined forces and the NYS who have undergone firefighting training or ex-fire fighters will have an added advantage.
Computer literate.
Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
