About the Job
The Director, Disaster Risk Reduction position is permanent and pensionable within Job Group ‘R’. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive disaster risk reduction strategies, coordinating with various agencies, and securing funding for DRR initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive disaster risk reduction strategies and policies.
Ensure alignment of DRR policies with national, regional, and international frameworks (e.g., Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction).
Develop risk maps and early warning systems.
Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, and community groups.
Foster public-private partnerships to enhance disaster preparedness and resilience.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks related to DRR.
Secure funding and allocate resources for DRR initiatives.
Promote awareness about disaster risks and mitigation strategies.
Any other duty that the supervisor may assign.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institute.
Masters Degrees is an added advantage.
Served in Senior Position and have experience for a minimum period of 5 years.
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in diverse environments.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make swift, informed decisions.
