About the Job

This position involves formulating and coordinating the implementation of library policies, strategies and plans. It also includes managing library resources, overseeing the development and implementation of library services and programs, and leading and supervising library staff.

Responsibilities

Formulating and coordinating the implementation of library policies, strategies and plans
Managing library resources (e.g., budget, collections, facilities)
Overseeing the development and implementation of library services and programs
Leading and supervising library staff, including performance management
Ensuring efficient and effective operation of library systems and technologies
Coordinating collection development and management activities
Promoting the use of library resources and services to the University community
Developing and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
Preparing and submitting library reports and statistics
Ensuring compliance with relevant library standards and regulations
Conducting research and staying updated on library trends and best practices
Handling user complaints and feedback
Assisting in strategic planning for the library
Managing intellectual property rights related to library resources
Implementing innovative library services and technologies
Any other duty as may be assigned by the Director

Requirements

Served in the grade of Principal Library Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the public or private sector for a minimum period of three (3) years
Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Information Science, or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Information Science, or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution (added advantage)
Relevant technical and professional certification from a recognized institution
Registered with relevant professional body (where applicable)
Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized and accredited institution
Proficiency in computer applications
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
