About the Job

Kenyatta University is seeking an Animal Care Technician to ensure the cleanliness and proper care of laboratory animals.

Responsibilities

Ensure daily cleanliness of the animal facility.
Ensure Proper diet and health monitoring of laboratory animals.
Ensure proper bio containment of research materials and animals in the facility.
Ensure proper disposal of all experimental animals.
Train students and staff on proper handling and use of laboratory animals.
Develop standard operating procedures on care, use and management of laboratory animals.
Maintain proper records of animal ages, gender and those under different experiments.

Requirements

Minimum KCSE C – Minus or equivalent.
Diploma in Animal Health and Production from an institution recognized by the Kenya Veterinary Board.
Computer certificate.
Good verbal and written communication.
Registration with the Kenya Veterinary Board.
Knowledge of handling, restrained and transportation of laboratory animals.
Knowledgeable in laws and guidelines on animal care and use.
Minimum of two (2) years work experience in animal research laboratories.
