About the Job:
This is an academic position involving teaching and supervising students in the Health Information Management field at the university level.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching and evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Setting, moderating, administering, processing and marking examinations.
- Academic advising and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Articulating the Vision and Mission of the University, Department and the Faculty.
- Initiating, planning and conducting research.
- Development of teaching and learning materials.
- Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities.
- Developing research proposals for funding.
- Participate in meetings and conferences related to research and building inter-disciplinary collaboration.
- Participating in preparation of Department and Faculty strategic plans.
- Organizing and supervising educational activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Attending and participating in seminars, workshops, conferences etc.
- Participating in administrative, academic and consultancy activities.
- Participating in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula.
- Attending and participating in Departmental meetings and other activities.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Head of Department, Dean of Faculty or other Chief Officer.
Requirements:
- Earned Ph.D. degree in Health informatics, Health information Management, Biomedical informatics, public health informatics, computer Science (with specialization in Health informatics) or closely related field from a recognized academic institution.
- At least three (3) years of university teaching at the level of a full time Lecturer.
- At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since becoming a Lecturer OR at least one (1) refereed book plus two (2) articles OR at least (3) distinguished exhibition, performances or original creation plus one (1) article in a refereed journal since becoming a lecturer.
- Show evidence of supervision of postgraduate students.
- Have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
- Must be a registered member of professional body.
- Show evidence of contribution to university life through active participation in Departmental and Faculty activities, good quality teaching attendance of meetings, student academic advising and committee membership.
