About the Job

This role involves supervising and evaluating laboratory work, managing laboratory supplies, and ensuring the maintenance and calibration of equipment.

Responsibilities

Planning, supervision, evaluating and coordinating laboratory work in the area of specialization.
Preparing annual procurement plans for the section.
Procuring teaching materials for the division/department.
Preparing the budget for laboratory equipment and consumables.
Keeping and maintaining records of laboratory supplies for all the laboratories within the department.
Ensuring laboratory equipment are well maintained and calibrated according to standards applicable.
Overseeing provision of laboratory services as well as allocation of duties and responsibilities to all laboratory staff within the department/division.
Coordinating research activities in the department.
Training students, attachees, interns and other Laboratory staff.
Receiving, processing and analyzing samples.
Procuring teaching materials, implementing quality assurance standards and participating in research projects.

Requirements

Higher Diploma in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized institution with a Technical Certificate.
Served in the grade of Laboratory Technologist I, Grade AD 10 for a minimum period of three (3) years relevant work experience.
Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
Registered with a professional body (where applicable).
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
