About the Job
This position involves representing resident organizations as a board member for the Water Service Provider (WSP). The role focuses on overseeing the management and operations of the WSP, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting the interests of the company through financial oversight and policy formulation. The terms of service are a three (3) year term, renewable once, with remuneration as set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Responsibilities
Competitively recruit the Managing Director of the Water Service Provider as per the provisions of the Act and other regulations.
Oversee the running and management of the Water Service Provider in accordance to provisions of the Act.
Formulate with approval from CECM for Water policies pertaining to the WSP, management and implementation of objects of the company.
Administer the property and funds of the company in such a manner or purpose as shall best promote the interests but not discharge/dispose of immovable property of the company without approval of CECM for Water.
Borrow, generate, raise and receive donations, endorsements, gifts, grants or monies on behalf of the company and make disbursements thereof.
Approve budgets of Water Service Provider and forward to the County Executive Committee Member- Water and Sanitation.
Receive reports from the Managing Director or any other member of staff in respect of financial or any other circumstance of the company.
Direct any action to be taken by the Managing Director or any staff of the company.
Requirements
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Be a holder of at least a first degree from a university recognized in Kenya or its equivalent in any of the following fields: Accounting/Finance (candidates must be in good standing with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and produce a letter to this effect), Registered Engineer (candidates must be in good standing at the Institute of Engineers of Kenya), Human Resource (a practitioner in good standing with the Institute of Human Resource Management), or Law (a practicing advocate at the High Court of Kenya and in good standing at the Law Society of Kenya).
Must meet the Leadership and Integrity criteria under Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and meet fit and proper test criteria from WASREB.
Must be a resident of Uasin Gishu County rural areas the jurisdiction of Uasin Gishu Rural Water and Sanitation Company (URWASCO).
Not a holder of any political office.
Not a state officer.
From different resident organizations as stakeholders of URWASCO/water sector.
