About the Job

The Principal Fire Officer & Rescue Services position is permanent and pensionable within Job Group ‘N’. This role involves providing overall leadership to fire and rescue teams, supervising operations, and implementing fire prevention strategies.

Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership in boroughs and direction to fire and rescue teams.
Supervise operations, ensuring adherence to departmental protocols, safety standards, and legal regulations.
Ensure that teams are equipped with knowledge of the latest firefighting techniques and safety protocols.
Conduct drills and simulations to prepare for various emergency scenarios.
Conduct risk assessments of buildings, industrial sites, and public areas to identify fire hazards.
Implement fire prevention strategies, including public awareness campaigns.
Provide expert advice to businesses and government agencies on fire code compliance.
Represent the fire department at public events, meetings, and inter-agency forums.
Promote fire safety education and awareness within the community.
Any other duty that the Supervisor may assign.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in fire science, fire engineering, public administration, Disaster Management, Emergency Management, Occupational Health and safety disciplines, or its recognized equivalent qualification from a recognized institute.
Certificate in Fire Engineering or attended a Fire Prevention Course in fire service training locally.
First Aid Certificate.
Served satisfactorily as a Senior fire officer for at least (2) years.
Shown merit and ability in work performance and results.
Demonstrate outstanding professional competence and administrative ability in management.
