About the Job

The Principal Disaster Management Officer position is permanent and pensionable within Job Group ‘N’. This role focuses on post-disaster assessments, developing early warning systems, and providing crisis management support during emergencies.

Responsibilities

Conduct post-disaster assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction programs and identify areas for improvement.
Assist in developing and implementing early warning systems to provide advance notice of potential disasters or emergencies.
Provide crisis management support during disasters and emergencies, including coordinating emergency response efforts, communicating with stakeholders and the public, and managing resources and logistics.
Evaluate and select disaster response and recovery vendors, such as contractors and suppliers, to ensure that they have the expertise and resources needed to support disaster response and recovery efforts.
Mobilize funding for disaster risk reduction programs and initiatives, including lobbying for government funding and seeking grants and donations from private sector entities and philanthropic organizations.
Provide data analysis and reporting to support decision-making related to disaster risk reduction, including identifying trends, assessing risk, and tracking program performance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Emergency Management, Public Safety Management, Environmental studies disciplines or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institute.
Served at least (3) years in middle-level management in public service in Job Group ‘L’ and above.
Demonstrate outstanding professional competence and administrative ability in the management.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to manage multi-agency coordination during crises.
