About the Job

Permanent position responsible for initiating, preparing and monitoring the implementation of county and local physical and land use development plans, preparing action plans for specific projects, providing advice to government and private agencies, implementing and providing feedback on planning guidelines and standards, undertaking thematic regional studies, managing physical planning data, providing advice on development control, carrying out public education, and preparing annual state of physical planning reports.

Responsibilities

Initiating, preparing and monitoring the implementation of county and local physical and land use development plans.
Preparing action plans for specific projects such as residential housing schemes, shopping centers, industrial estates and recreational facilities.
Providing advice to government and private agencies on development proposals and plans.
Implementing and providing feedback on physical and land use planning guidelines and standards.
Undertaking thematic regional studies on matters relating to physical and land use planning.
Managing physical planning data.
Providing advice on development control.
Carrying out public education on physical and land use planning matters.
Preparing annual state of physical planning reports on county and local physical planning development plans.

Requirements

Have served in the grade of chief physical planner for a minimum period of three (3) years or cumulative working experience of at least six (6) years in the relevant field from public or private sector.
Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Urban and Regional planning, Town planning from a recognized institution.
Be a corporate member of Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter).
Is registered as a physical planner under the Physical Planners Registration Act, 1996 and is in good standing with the relevant professional body.
Have a certificate in Senior management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Have demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and Results.
