About the Job

The State Department for Livestock Development is seeking a Deputy Director to lead and manage laboratory services. This senior role involves formulating policies, coordinating programs, and overseeing capacity building to ensure the highest standards in laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

Formulating, implementing and reviewing policies, strategies and regulations of laboratory programmes.
Coordinating, mentoring, and evaluation of laboratory Programmes/projects.
Implementing policies, strategies and regulations.
Coordinating the implementation of work plans and departmental budgets.
Laboratory operation standards (ISO 17025).
Liaising with relevant communities.
Overseeing matters related to laboratory services.
Undertaking capacity building and performance management in the department.

Requirements

Served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Assistant Director, Laboratory Services, CSG 7 or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service.
A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields; Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, Applied Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science and Technology in any of the following fields (Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology, Civil Engineering, Civil) from a university recognized in Kenya.
Shown outstanding managerial capabilities and demonstrated a high degree of professional competence required in managing laboratory services.
