About the Job

The Laboratory Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination of laboratory services at all participating sites. He/she will ensure adequate supplies, oversight laboratory networking, ensure processing of samples is done appropriately, oversee results communication to the clinical teams, ensure appropriate storage of samples, and work with the Study Physician to champion good laboratory-clinical interphase. The holder will also ensure the Study is conducted according to Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) guidelines and in adherence to the study protocol.

Responsibilities

Coordinate all laboratory activities across participating study sites.
Ensure adherence to Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) guidelines and study protocols.
Manage procurement, inventory, and distribution of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Oversee sample collection, processing, storage, and shipment according to established SOPs.
Implement and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs for laboratory procedures.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory results to clinical teams.
Provide training and technical support to laboratory staff at study sites.
Troubleshoot and resolve laboratory-related issues and discrepancies.
Maintain comprehensive laboratory documentation and records.
Collaborate with the study management team and clinical staff to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services.
Participate in the development and review of laboratory SOPs and other study-related documents.
Conduct regular site visits to assess laboratory performance and compliance.
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
At least three (3) years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting, with at least one year in a supervisory or coordination role.
Proficiency in Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP).
Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and quality management systems.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Computer literate.
