About the Job
The job entails identification, feasibility studies, detailed design and construction of water infrastructure to increase area from diverse water sources that include rivers, lakes, ground water as well as the development and expansion of Sanitation, water harvesting and storage infrastructure. The job holder will answerable to a senior officer. This is the entry and training grade for engineers, working under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
- Preparing drawings and designs for manufacture and fabrication of tools, equipment and machine/plant/vehicle components.
- Designing project; project costing and budgetary preparations.
- Documenting and managing contract.
- Ensuring professional standards.
- Repairing and preparing maintenance schedules for vehicles and plant machinery.
- Designing water storage infrastructure.
- Preparing technical specification and assists in evaluating bids and proposals for water infrastructural projects.
- Carrying out and /or participates in feasibility or technical studies to establish water potential of new sites and areas.
- Preparing schedule of quantities and project proposals.
- Technical evaluation, supervision, monitoring and compliance with all contracts and service level agreements relating to design and completion of water projects.
- Preparing water planning and design operational plans and budgets.
- Planning, regulating and formulating water development-based policies, strategy and standard.
- Preparing schedule of quantities, comparative statements, justification for call/processing of tender cases, processing of extra/substituted items, deviation statements and claims of all type of contracts.
- Administration of construction contracts, and ensures the necessary approvals, permits and licenses relating to water projects are obtained.
- Taking part in water site visits, meetings, and presentations.
- Tracking and controlling construction schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of projects within time and budgets.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in any of the following disciplines: Civil Engineering Water Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electro Mechanical Engineering or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
- Registration by Engineers Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer.
- Registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
