About the Job

Responsible for the coordination, administration and implementation of livestock production programs and projects in the county, organizing, directing, controlling and coordinating the function of livestock production, developing county departmental policies, legal and institutional frameworks, coordination of production documentation and dissemination, interpreting and applying national and county laws, acquisition of professional management equipment and materials, and performing any other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

Organizing, directing, controlling and coordinating of the function of livestock production in the county.
Developing county departmental policies, legal and institutional frameworks for the implementation of the mandate of livestock development.
Coordination of production documentation and dissemination of livestock production.
Interpreting and applying national and county laws and other related statutes in the line with the county goals and objectives.
Acquisition of professional management equipment and materials for livestock development.
Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Animal health, Animal Production, Livestock Economics, Forensic Science, Animal Nutrition and Feed Sciences, Livestock Production Systems.
Administrative capabilities in initiating and implementing livestock production policies.
Has performed the functions of Assistant Director of livestock or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for at least five (5) years.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding for national goals policies objectives and the ability to relate them to the administration function.
Master’s degree is an added advantage in any of the following fields Animal health, Animal Production, Livestock Economics, Forensic Science, Animal Nutrition and Feed Sciences, Livestock Production Systems.
Must have either ten (10) years demonstrable and proven experience, three (3) of which must have been at Job Group CPSB 04/Q or its equivalent from the public sector or six years’ experience at Job Group CPSB 05/P in the Public Service OR have either fifteen (15) years of demonstrable and proven experience, five (5) of which must have been at Job Group CPSB 04/Q or its equivalent from the private sector or eight years’ experience at Job Group CPSB 05/P in the Private Service.
Attended senior management course lasting not less than four weeks from KSG.
Fifteen years of professional experience in public service.
Competency and mastery of livestock related subject matters.
