About the Job
The Deputy Director, Disaster Risk Reduction position is permanent and pensionable within Job Group ‘Q’. This role involves assisting in creating policies and procedures for emergency response, coordinating with other departments, and developing training and awareness programs.
Responsibilities
Assist in creating policies and procedures that guide the organization’s response to emergencies and disasters.
Conduct risk assessments, identifying potential hazards, and developing contingency plans.
Work closely with other departments and agencies to properly execute emergency response plans.
Assist in developing and implementing training and awareness programs to educate employees, volunteers, and community members about disaster preparedness and response.
Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction programs to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for changes.
Assist in developing and implementing disaster risk reduction plans, including emergency response, evacuation, and communication plans.
These plans are regularly reviewed and updated to remain relevant and effective.
Any other duty that the supervisor may assign.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Physical Planning, or a related field.
Attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institute.
Master’s Degrees is an added advantage.
Served in a senior position and have experience for a minimum period of 5 years.
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in diverse environments.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make swift, informed decisions.
