About the Job

The Assistant Director – Disaster Risk Reduction position is permanent and pensionable within Job Group ‘P’. This role involves assisting in designing and delivering policies and strategies for the Disaster Risk Management department, managing resources, and coordinating emergency recovery support programs.

Responsibilities

Assist in designing and delivering appropriate policies and strategies that govern the programs and activities of the Disaster Risk Management department.
Assist in managing the resources required to deliver effective disaster risk reduction strategies for the department.
Assist in managing and coordinating emergency recovery support programs.
Oversee the development of recovery strategies to assist affected communities.
Coordinate post-disaster recovery activities, including damage assessments, financial aid distribution, and infrastructure restoration.
Partner with community organizations to ensure inclusive recovery efforts.
Assist in creating and updating emergency response and recovery policies.
Develop and submit reports on disaster response and recovery activities.
Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Emergency Management, Public Safety Management, Environmental studies disciplines or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institute.
Served at least (3) years in middle-level management in Public service in Job Group ‘M’ and above.
Senior Management Course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institute.
Member of a professional body.
Demonstrate outstanding professional competence and administrative ability in the management.
Strong knowledge of emergency management principles, and disaster recovery programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder coordination.
Strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced and high-stakes environments.
