About the Job
This is an entry-level position for Prosecution Counsel within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), with five (5) available posts. The basic salary scale ranges from Kshs.69,394 p.m. to Kshs.99,312 p.m. The terms of service are permanent and pensionable. An officer at this level may be deployed to work in any of the Departments at the Headquarters or County Offices under the guidance of a senior and experienced officer.
Responsibilities
Conducting criminal and related proceedings in relation to cases instituted before courts of law.
Analyzing judgments and preparing appropriate documents for appeal, review, or revision and related proceedings where necessary.
Conducting pre-trial, in-trial, and post-trial prosecution strategies.
Advising government departments and agencies on criminal matters.
Conducting the prosecution of criminal cases.
Drafting pleadings.
Participating in the development and implementation of annual work plans, procurement plans, and budgets.
Collecting, collating, analyzing, and submitting criminal statistical data and reports.
Liaising with the police and other law enforcement agencies.
Conducting legal research on the files allocated to them.
Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education.
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.
Admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing.
