About the Job
This administrative position involves planning, supervising, and coordinating laboratory work, procurement, and maintenance within the university’s technical divisions.
Responsibilities
Planning, supervision, evaluation and coordination of laboratory work in the area of specification.
Preparing annual procurement plans for the section.
Procuring teaching materials for the division.
Preparing the budget for laboratory equipment and consumables.
Keeping and maintaining records of supplies for all the laboratories within the division.
Ensuring laboratory equipment are well maintained and calibrated according to standards applicable.
Conducting undergraduate and post graduate practicals.
Overseeing provision of laboratory services as well as allocation of duties and responsibilities to all laboratory staff within the department/division.
Training students, attachees, interns and other Laboratory staff.
Coordinating research activities in the department.
Preparing end of Semester laboratory reports.
Ensuring safe disposal of machines and equipment.
Responsible for the overall administration of laboratories of the department.
Requirements
Master’s degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized institution with a Technical Certificate.
Bachelor’s degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized institution with a Technical Certificate.
Served in the grade of Chief Technologist Grade 12 for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks will be an added advantage.
Registered with a professional body.
Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
