About the Job
This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining software, systems, and network infrastructure, as well as providing technical support and ensuring data security.
Responsibilities
Assisting in the design of new software development and implementation systems.
Coding and testing computer programs according to instructions and specifications prepared by more senior officers.
Assisting in modifying existing system programs to improve efficiency.
Carrying out feasibility study on existing and proposed systems to determine economic viability of the system.
Coordinating the implementation of new or modified systems.
Changing functionality of computer hardware to adapt to technological changes.
Operating and maintaining computer systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
Participating in the School/Division/Department in planning.
Designing and implementing the University Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and database.
Performing University Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) database monitoring, tuning and data recovery procedures.
Configuring and monitoring database usage.
Managing and supporting University ERP database.
Controlling and monitoring database systems.
Installing and maintaining database systems.
Performing network monitoring, security and performance tuning.
Investigating issues including problem resolution and troubleshooting.
Establishing network, WAN, LAN and DMZ specifications by conforming with policies.
Designing, configuring and administering network infrastructure.
Analyzing network access, information, and security requirements with users.
Designing network architecture.
Securing the networks by developing and implementing network access, control, and evaluation systems.
Designing, installing and configuring virtual servers, virtual personal data assistant, smartphones, other devices, firewalls, phones, physical devices, multimedia network facilities in all machines such as drivers and settings of personal devices and printers.
Designing network hardware, software configuration, and database.
Implementing network servers such as the servers, VPN gateways and intrusion detection systems.
Training and providing troubleshooting procedures to helpdesk personnel for first-line network issues.
Designing and managing hardware configuration.
Protecting institutional value by keeping information confidential.
Developing new or revised products and services.
Designing new or revised products/services.
Participating in job redesign, planning, implementation and maintenance of University websites on both internet and intranet.
Maintaining and upgrading the University web servers.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information & Communication Technology (ICT) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Served in the grade of ICT Officer II, Grade AD 9 or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years.
A holder of professional qualifications and A broader professional ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
