About the Job

This position involves implementing corporate communication policies, strategies, standards, guidelines and procedures. It also includes developing content for internal and external communication materials, managing media relations, and coordinating events and campaigns to promote the University’s image.

Responsibilities

Implementing corporate communication policies, strategies, standards, guidelines and procedures
Developing content for internal and external communication materials (e.g., press releases, newsletters, social media posts)
Managing media relations, including responding to media inquiries and organizing press conferences
Coordinating events and campaigns to promote the University’s image and brand
Monitoring and analyzing media coverage and public sentiment
Maintaining the University’s website and social media platforms
Assisting in crisis communication management
Preparing communication reports and presentations
Liaising with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging
Supporting corporate social responsibility initiatives
Handling internal communication to keep staff informed
Assisting in the development of communication strategies
Managing communication archives and records
Conducting public opinion research to inform communication strategies
Providing communication support for University leadership
Ensuring compliance with communication policies and regulations
Mentoring junior corporate communication staff
Representing the University at public events and forums

Requirements

Served in the grade of Senior Corporate Communications Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the public or private sector for a minimum period of three (3) years
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution
Master’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution (added advantage)
Relevant technical and professional certification from a recognized institution
Registered with relevant professional body (where applicable)
Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized and accredited institution
Proficiency in computer applications
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
