About the Job

This role involves assisting in the implementation of corporate communication strategies and policies, drafting and editing communication materials, managing and updating the University’s social media platforms, and supporting media relations.

Responsibilities

Assisting in the implementation of corporate communication strategies and policies
Drafting and editing communication materials (e.g., press releases, articles, speeches)
Managing and updating the University’s social media platforms
Supporting media relations, including preparing media kits and responding to basic inquiries
Coordinating internal communication activities
Assisting in organizing and executing University events and campaigns
Monitoring news and social media for relevant mentions and trends
Compiling communication reports and data
Maintaining communication databases and archives
Conducting basic research for communication projects
Providing support for website content management
Liaising with external vendors for communication-related services (e.g., printing, photography)
Participating in public awareness campaigns
Assisting in the preparation of presentations and briefings
Ensuring brand consistency in all communication materials
Handling general administrative duties within the department
Undertaking any other duties as may be assigned

Requirements

Served in the grade of Corporate Communications Officer I or in a comparable and relevant position in the public or private sector for a minimum period of three (3) years
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution
Relevant technical and professional certification from a recognized institution (added advantage)
Registered with relevant professional body (where applicable)
Proficiency in computer applications
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
