About the Job

The role involves preparing financial statements and reports, managing and controlling utilization of county assets and liabilities, coordinating budgets and work plans for the department, verifying reconciliation statements, responding to audit queries, providing technical support to departments on financial matters, coordinating payments for goods and services, enforcing adherence to financial policies, regulations and professional practices in all financial transactions, and any other duties assigned from time to time.

Responsibilities

Preparing financial statements and reports.
Managing and controlling utilization of county assets(e.g. Vehicles) and liabilities(e.g. utility bills).
Coordinating budgets and work plans for the department.
Verification of reconciliation statements.
Responding to audit queries and mandatory inquiries whenever necessary.
Providing technical support to departments on financial matters.
Coordinating payments for goods and services.
Enforcing adherence to financial policies, regulations and professional practices in all financial transactions.
Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Requirements

Served in the grade of Senior Accountant, job group `CPSB 08’ or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Bachelor’s Degree in either Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) and passed part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination OR Passed part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or its recognized equivalent.
Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from the Kenya Institute of administration or any other recognized institution.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
