The Tharaka Nithi County Public Service Board is advertising for two permanent positions for Animal Health Assistants/Artificial Inseminators within the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives.

Responsibilities

Mainly providing artificial insemination and animal breeding advice.
Carrying out simple treatment of animals.
Participating in disease search and reporting.
Demonstrating milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting.
Carrying out vaccination.
Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, de-beaking and hoof trimming.
Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in Animal Health or Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution.
Be registered and retained by the Kenya Veterinary Board.
Have a Certificate in Artificial Insemination.
Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Possess a Driving Licence (Motorbike riding option) and be willing to ride for long hours.
