About the Job

This is a promotional internal position within the County Government of Kakamega, serving officers on Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service, in the Department of Health Services. The role involves managing dental conditions, performing specific dental care procedures, and providing formal and informal training to other health workers.

Responsibilities

Managing dental conditions in a dental unit or health facility including: diagnosing, investigating, treating, and patient documentation.
Performing specific dental care procedures.
Restorative, prosthodontics, peadodonticts, orthodontics, minor oral-facial surgeries.
Periodontology and health education.
Providing formal and informal training, and supervising other health workers.
Maintaining an up-to-date dental health information system.
Organizing community sensitization and outreach programs on dental care.
Disseminating information for health planning.

Requirements

Served as a Senior Dental Officer, Job Group CPSB 06/‘N’ for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Bachelors of Dental Surgery (DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Certificate in Senior Management Course (SMC) lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
