About the Job
The General Manager will be answerable to the Chief Executive Officer in implementing Water and Sanitation Works and will work closely with other Directorates in execution of the CRVWWDA mandate.
Responsibilities
- Spearheading the formulation, implementation and review water works development policies, strategies, standards, guidelines, programs and projects.
- Coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance and management of national public water works.
- Manage and coordinate provision of water and sanitation services until such a time as responsibility for the operation and management of the water works are handed over to a county government or water services provider.
- Overseeing the handover, the water works to designated water services providers for operation and management.
- Ensuring provision of technical and capacity building services to county governments and water service providers the Agency is requested.
- Coordinating provision of technical advice to the Cabinet Secretary on matters pertaining to water works in the area of jurisdiction.
- Overseeing the construct and manage water works infrastructure.
- Overseeing and supervising the work of consultants and contractors involved in the construction of water works infrastructure.
- Ensuring compliance with the provisions of Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant statutes.
- Ensuring that safeguard standards are adhered to including environmental, social-economic, and health and safety requirements in the process of water works acquisition and development.
Requirements
- Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years, three (3) of which should have been at senior management level or in a comparable position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Civil Engineering Water Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electro Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Civil Engineering Water Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electro Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution.
- Membership to a professional body and in good standing where applicable.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
