About the Job
The Assistant Director Fire and Rescue Services is a permanent and pensionable position within Job Group ‘P’. This role involves providing expert guidance on technical requirements for firefighting and rescue operations, assessing departmental technical needs, and overseeing the maintenance and implementation of advanced systems.
Responsibilities
Ensure that all technical systems and tools are maintained, calibrated, and operational.
Provide expert guidance on the technical requirements for firefighting and rescue operations.
Assess the technical needs of the department and recommend procurement of firefighting and rescue equipment.
Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and replacement schedules for all technical gear, vehicles, and facilities.
Implement advanced systems such as GIS mapping, drones, and fire modeling software for better disaster response.
Organize workshops and sessions to familiarize staff with the latest firefighting technologies and safety protocols.
Conduct audits to ensure adherence to technical standards in equipment usage and maintenance.
Supervise the deployment of specialized equipment, ensuring proper and safe use.
Maintain records of technical operations, including equipment usage, maintenance logs, and incident outcomes.
Any other duty that the Deputy Director may assign.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in fire science, fire engineering, public administration, Disaster Management, Emergency Management, Occupational Health, and safety disciplines, fire engineering, or its recognized equivalent qualification from a recognized institute.
Attended Senior Management Course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institute or Member of a professional body.
Certificate in Fire Engineering or attended a Fire Prevention Course in fire service training locally.
Served satisfactorily as a Senior Divisional fire officer for at least (3) years.
Valid motor vehicle driving license.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities for working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Analytical skills for assessing risks, planning operations, and optimizing resources.
