About the Job
The Assistant Director Disaster Ambulance position is permanent and pensionable within Job Group ‘P’. This role involves leading and managing disaster ambulance operations, managing the ambulance fleet, and overseeing the training and development of EMTs.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage disaster ambulance operations, ensuring rapid and effective emergency medical response.
Manage ambulance fleet, medical equipment and other critical resources to maintain operational readiness.
Ensure maintenance, procurement, and optimal deployment of ambulances and emergency medical supplies.
Advocate for service enhancements, funding and innovations to strengthen ambulance services.
Oversee the training, certification and professional development of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and ambulance support staff.
Participate in disaster preparedness planning and risk reduction strategies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Health or Community Health, Public Safety or Emergency along with relevant experience.
Served satisfactorily as Senior Disaster Ambulance Officer and above for at least two (3) years.
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proficiency in emergency medical protocols, triage systems, and ambulance logistics.
Analytical skills for evaluating operational performance and implementing improvements.
