About the Job
The Principal Disaster Ambulance Operation position is permanent and pensionable within Job Group ‘N’. This role involves leading a team of paramedics and EMTs, serving as the primary decision-maker for ambulance operations during emergencies, and developing operational plans for ambulance services.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of paramedics, EMTs, and support staff during disaster response and recovery efforts.
Serve as the primary decision-maker for ambulance operations during large-scale emergencies and disaster.
Develop and implement operational plans for ambulance services in disaster scenarios, ensuring readiness and efficiency.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of ambulance operations to ensure timely and effective patient transport.
Maintain communication with dispatch centers, hospitals, and other emergency response teams to streamline patient care and transfer.
Participate in the development of disaster preparedness plans and risk reduction strategies.
Provide expert advice on integrating ambulance services into broader disaster management frameworks.
Represent the ambulance service in inter-agency meetings, community forums, and disaster preparedness conferences.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Health or Community Health, Public Safety or Emergency along with relevant experience.
Served satisfactorily as Senior Disaster Ambulance Officer and above for at least two (2) years.
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proficiency in emergency medical protocols, triage systems, and ambulance logistics.
Analytical skills for evaluating operational performance and implementing improvements.
