About the Job:
Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC) is looking for a Head Steward to lead the Kitchen’s Stewarding Team, overseeing cleanliness, hygiene standards, and organization of the training kitchens and related areas.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision of duties of all stewards, kitchen facilities, and operations.
- Supervise the sanitation, cleanliness, hygiene as well as the quality level of products and services.
- Ensure back of house areas are maintained to the highest cleanliness standards.
- Directs and assists stewards to make clean up more efficient.
- Assist Chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed.
- Check more specifically the proper use of chemicals and washing detergents.
- Stock take of equipment and other items as required.
- Work with all departments to ensure items are available when needed.
- Take all necessary actions to reduce breakage of China and Glass wares.
- Supervise stewards ability to follow loss prevention policies.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by management.
Requirements:
- A Diploma in hospitality or related field with previous experiences with stewarding department within a hotel.
- Two years relevant experience leading teams in a kitchen set up.
- Proven work experience as a Head Steward.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Management skills.
- Communication skills and professional ethics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
- A deep understanding of, commitment to and involvement in hospitality Industry.
