About the Job:

Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC) is looking for a Head Steward to lead the Kitchen’s Stewarding Team, overseeing cleanliness, hygiene standards, and organization of the training kitchens and related areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of duties of all stewards, kitchen facilities, and operations.
  • Supervise the sanitation, cleanliness, hygiene as well as the quality level of products and services.
  • Ensure back of house areas are maintained to the highest cleanliness standards.
  • Directs and assists stewards to make clean up more efficient.
  • Assist Chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed.
  • Check more specifically the proper use of chemicals and washing detergents.
  • Stock take of equipment and other items as required.
  • Work with all departments to ensure items are available when needed.
  • Take all necessary actions to reduce breakage of China and Glass wares.
  • Supervise stewards ability to follow loss prevention policies.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • A Diploma in hospitality or related field with previous experiences with stewarding department within a hotel.
  • Two years relevant experience leading teams in a kitchen set up.
  • Proven work experience as a Head Steward.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Management skills.
  • Communication skills and professional ethics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
  • A deep understanding of, commitment to and involvement in hospitality Industry.
  • An absolute commitment to upholding the college values.
